Art History to Life

This day included a Senior presenting from the front of the room with great confidence.  Like having a guest speaker,we were treated to fresh information about Vincent Van Gogh and his painting, Starry Night.

3/25/15 Day Two of Presentations
Composition C by Piet Mondrian.

3/24/15 1st day of Presentations
One of the Seniors in my Draw/Paint Class presented Pablo Picasso's Blue Period.  Special focus on Femme aux Bras Croises Painting (Woman with folded arms).  She chose to draw on a ceramic mug with Sharpie Marker.  She baked the mug at home to make the marker permanent.
In addition to the mug was a very polished slide show that included critical and interesting information about the artist and his original painting. - AMAZING!

Paintings on Pop Tarts

Paintings on Pop Tarts.  Obviously not going to win healthy points.  The tarts without frosting look like little wooden frames.
Supplies for one class:  1 container of white icing, 1 chocolate.  A box of food coloring, a box of plastic snack bags and spoons.  Take a small spoon full of icing and put it down in the corner of a snack bag (wipe off inside bag - no mess).  Add food color, knead inside bag.  Finally cut a tiny hole on the corner of the bag and squeeze.

Beard Inspire

A friend of mine posted a photo of her husband.  It was part of a business venture.  I just loved the photo and wanted to draw it.  Then I scanned the drawing and did some digital coloring, cutting and pasting.  Pleased with the result and seeing the potential for art projects at school?  Lines, textures, multi-media FUN!!!!

DIY Beard

Feel free to use the pattern I made with an 8.5 X 11 sheet of copy paper folded in half.  I also folded the felt in half to cut the beards out.  2 beards per piece of felt.  The beards are held on by elastic string that was just pushed through the felt and knotted.

Local Artist Visits Art Room

Local Artist Rodney Bentley visited the Art Room on Friday 3/6/15.  It was the first time he had visited a classroom and he handled it like a pro.  One of the busiest days on my schedule with grades 4,3,2,7,9, Digital Photography and Drawing & Painting.  He left me two of his charcoal pieces shown below.
