Back to School Bulletin Boards in Progress. When my mother went to school to teach art, calligraphy was mandatory. Now students may not be able to read the cursive. Although putting pen quickly to paper is one of my favorite things the scale of these words was a bit clumsy. Still wanted to emphasize Growth Mindset this year.

New Respect Mascot
At the Elementary Level we have a mascot for school wide promises. 2 years ago it was Minions. Last year it was "Pete the Cat". Pete was created by James Dean and the stories by Eric Litwin. You might recall an older post where a plush Minion was transformed into an artist. This Minion was given to the elementary student that earned the most Respect/Character points for the year in the Art Room. There was one other student that came super close. This year there are 2 mascots thanks to Kohl's Cares. These cats were purchased for $5. The money supports charitable initiatives.
The transformation was a little more challenging this time. Custom beret and palette - super fun!

Five Minute Drawing of the Day
The five minute drawing of the day is a chainsaw. A gift which came with some weekend training. Safely employed today on two small trees. Perhaps, with the right tools, that place called outdoors can be managed.

Day Trip!
Traveled to Weston, Vt today to meet children’s author John
Churchman of John & Jennifer Churchman, Bestselling authors of THE
SHEEPOVER. He brought Laddie, who likes
to sit in chairs. It was great to meet
both of them. I brought home a signed and
hoof printed copy of the newest book, ALPACA LUNCH. After we shook hands Laddie lifted up his paw
and placed it right over my hand. It was
great to hear about the layers of photos used for the book and more. Thanks so much!
Well worth the trip to meet the author at The Vermont
Country Store and lunch at The Bryant House.
