This is the type of journal currently being used in my art room. Time will tell if it is the best option. A lesson is learned from each journal/sketchbook used. There have been a variety of issues with the covers and pages of sketchbooks/journals. The chipboard cover on this type is sturdy and easy to personalize with a variety of materials. The binder format allows pages to be added or removed so if a student wants a watercolor element they can just add it. They can also work on it outside of the book before they add it.
